is, in the end, much more realistic than its adversaries imagine.
Even modest advance in that direction would produce a strong
mobilization of forces prepared to go still further. To renounce
the critical Utopia, when all is said and done, is to accept the
barbarous drift of capitalism. I refuse this call for so-called real-
ism, which is, in fact, submission to a reality that is itself only
ephemeral."
